TikToks, internet detritus and video works. Join us for a unique celebration of CoreCore - the viral internet aesthetic and artistic movement. These films together remix the visual logic of doom scrolling to make sense of the fragmentation and chaos of digital life.

CoreCore videos emerged on TikTok during the early 2020s, made up of seemingly unrelated clips found in disparate corners of the internet, often set to melancholic ambient music. CoreCore is the contemporary mode of montage, reminiscent of Dadaism and the work of filmmakers such as Mark Leckey and Arthur Jafa alike. As the barrage of content becomes ever more intense, CoreCore has emerged as an intriguing evolution in short-form filmmaking.

On arrival, the audience will receive a special essay about the programme by journalist Kieran Press-Reynolds and the screening will be followed by a recorded Q&A with the filmmakers.

Contains scenes of graphic violence or injury, and flashing imagery.

This programme is curated by Immaterial Film Club.

This event is sponsored by CapCut.
