The possibility of being sea
The possibility of being sea is a personal essay film, reflecting on motherhood, mortality and linear time. A daughter returns to the hospital in Bloemfontein where her mother died ten years earlier. She films - first digitally, then with expired Kodachrome 8mm film - the route to the hospital. Meanwhile, the years have passed and the daughter has become a mother herself. The possibility of being sea is an attempt to turn the tables : is there something the mother still wants to tell her daughter? What does it mean to die? What does it mean to be weightless?
