Location:
ActOne
Runtime:
240 min
Program:
Special Events Orbital

The Wasteground Circus is a place where anything can happen - where magic can appear in the most unlikely of spaces, and creativity can spark from abandoned and lost things.

Led by award-winning filmmaker and artist Esther May Campbell and inspired by The Wasteground Circus, a childrens’ book by Charles Keeping, this photography workshop and screening will use cameras and the art of photography to explore the location and area around ActOne, finding all kinds of creative ways to craft images.

Participants will mess around with cameras, images and all kinds of art and crafts, inside and outside of the cinema space (weather permitting!) There will be books, chalk, balloons, masks, food and drink. All materials are provided.

Following the workshop (spaces limited) we invite everyone to a screening of Albert Lamorisse’s heartwarming children’s short film The Red Balloon (1956) alongside short films curated by LSFF. For the separate film screening-only listing, please click here.

Workshop suitable for ages 8-14. Screening suitable for ages 8+ (all children at the screening must be accompanied by an adult)

Workshop will last approximately 4 hours with lunch break, followed by screening approximately 90 minutes.

Spaces on the workshop element of the day are free, but very limited. To express interest please email charlotte@shortfilms.org.uk
