She Creates Change is a six-part docu-series by Nexus Studios, created in collaboration with global charity, Room to Read to spotlight their important work. Spearheaded by Emmy-winner Martha Adams, each episode was directed by a collective of diverse women curated by Nexus Studios. The episodes are comprised of an animated short featuring the narratives of six courageous young women from historically low-income communities in Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Tanzania and Vietnam, and feature voiceovers from world-class talent such as Freida Pinto and Charithra Chandran. Directed by Hannah Lau-Walker, “Trang” follows the eponymous protagonist and uplifting story accompanied by her pet duck Bim Bim. Living in Vietnam, Trang and her family earn a living by selling cakes at the local market where they travel to by boat. After a boating accident leads to them losing all their stock they are left with nothing to sell and nothing to eat. Seeing her family struggle, Trang decides to take matters into her own hands. Using her smartphone, she teaches herself content creation, having to improvise some of the equipment she needs along the way. The real star of her videos? Her beloved pet duck, Bim Bim! Her YouTube channel doesn’t immediately get the following she was hoping for. But through determination and hard work, it gains popularity, and the channel soon becomes a success. Trang’s now able to help support her family and reinvest in their family business during difficult times.
