The London Short Film Festival (LSFF) is delighted to announce the appointment of Shira Macleod as our new Managing Director, joining the team in June.

The next edition of LSFF in January 2023 will be its 20th festival, with a celebration of the festival’s legacy alongside a comprehensive programme of new shorts and special events. Submissions for the 2023 festival are currently open, with a dedicated viewing team already watching thousands of submitted films from around the world.

Shira is a champion of repertory cinema and has 18 years' experience working with and programming short films. She was Cinema Director at Riverside Studios for 11 years then Cinema Director at Regent St Cinema for 5 years, hosting LSFF editions at both venues. She has since worked as a consultant for Bertha Dochouse and as a film programmer for The Arnolfini Bristol and Raindance. She has most recently curated the In Short, Europe Short Film Festival for EUNIC. Shira joins the core LSFF team alongside Artistic Director Philip Ilson, Press & Marketing Manager Charlotte Ashcroft and Festival Producer Alice Maestrini.

LSFF’s Artistic Director Philip Ilson said,

“We welcome Shira to LSFF having seen the amazing curatorial and leadership work she undertook in building the reputations of Riverside Studios Cinema Hammersmith and the Regent Street Cinema, during her tenures at both venues. We’re delighted to have her considerable expertise and experience as part of the team, and are excited to be working with her as the Festival approaches its 20th edition in January 2023".
