Industry Programme: Birds Eye View: Class Act
Tuesday, 18 January 2022
Birds Eye View brings a wider perspective of the world by championing cinema by women & non-binary filmmakers. Their mission is to advocate for equity, diversity, and inclusion in film by fostering a community for those who make, show, release and watch them.
Class Act aims to explore how we break the homogeneity of an industry so reliant on nepotism and ‘knowing the right people’. Birds Eye View director Melanie Iredale will be joined by filmmaker/LSFF Programmer Nia Childs ((freelance writer/director, creative producer and curator) and a representative from the BFIs Diversity & Inclusion team to discuss how we can break the cycle and work toward a level playing field for those without connections and financial privileges and facing intersecting systems of oppression.
Host: Melanie Iredale (Birds’ Eye View)
