Industry Programme: Skin Deep x Resolve: Local Storytelling
Monday, 17 January 2022
This session will focus on telling stories and sharing narratives that are built locally. In December, Skin Deep and Resolve launch their first creative online season around the theme ‘LOCAL’, celebrating how diaspora communities in the UK have shaped and are shaping local urban spaces and their built environment, particularly in areas where there are real issues of unequal access to resources, decision-making and power.
One of the commissions in this season is a short film, exploring the realities of existing and working in shared creative spaces with your children/younger generations. They will screen the short film and have a conversation around the process of making it in collaboration with local group, MAIA, and ways of telling community stories.
Skin Deep makes space for Black creatives and creatives of colour to work towards justice through cultural production, and build capacity for artists and activists in London and globally to think beyond crisis and survival, and dream of just futures.
RESOLVE is an interdisciplinary design collective that combines architecture, engineering, technology and art to address social challenges.
